If you have not participated in previous meetings of the LRC AI Working Group, no problem! All are welcome.

On the agenda today is the following:

1. Warm-up: AI check-in. How are our students using AI tools this semester? How are we as language instructors using them?

2. Discussion: Please read, "Twenty-first century technologies and language education: Charting a path forward" by Richard Kern. We will discuss some of the points of this article within the frame of how AI represents a paradigm shift that will have major implications for how we teach languages.

3. Brainstorming: how does our work as language teachers fit into the big picture of AI at Columbia, which is increasingly becoming a critical area of engagement for the university? How can we be part of this larger conversation? We will discuss this topic in greater detail at our next AI Working Group on November 8.
